July 13, 2005: ZGC attorney, Marc Zell, appeared as an expert on U.S. corporate law on Kol Israel's international affairs program, discussing the significance of the conviction of former WorldCom executive, Bernard Ebbers, and his unprecedented 25-year jail sentence - effectively life imprisonment for the 64-year old defendant. July 12, 2005: ZGC has been retained to provide antitrust advice under the Israel Restrictive Business Practices Law to a major multinational manufacturer in connection with a proposed cooperative agreement with a principal competitor.


July 3, 2005: Zell, Goldberg & Co. has been retained by a major regional automotive manufacturer to providing advice concerning an international procurement agreement.


July 3, 2005: Marc Zell was interviewed on Israel's national radio service, Kol Yisrael, as an expert on American constitutional law, discussing the ramifications of the resignation of Justice Sandra Day O'Connor from the United States Supreme Court.


July 2005: Zell, Goldberg & Co. attorney, Jeffrey Michels, representing a major Israeli processed food manufacturer in New Jersey state court, negotiated a substantial settlement in favor of the manufacturer in an action against a United States distributor. 


June 2005: A Zell, Goldberg & Co. team headed by Carl Sherer was selected by the American Bar Association's Negotiated Acquisitions Committee to prepare the Israeli portion of a book that the Committee is publishing about negotiating mergers and acquisitions in thirty-five countries around the world.  June 2005: Zell, Goldberg & Co. has been retained by a major European asset management firm to provide legal advice concerning the provisions of Israeli law in relation to mutual funds management and investment advisors. June 2005: Marc Zell appeared on Israel television Channel 10 and Channel 1 as an expert legal commentator on the United States jury system, in light of the verdict rendered in the Michael Jackson case.

May 2005: Marc Zell was interviewed on Israel's Second Channel radio on 25 May 2005 as an expert on US law discussing the constitutional crisis in the US Senate over the appointment of federal judges.


May 2005: Arnold Roth was the invited speaker at several New York-area commemorations of Israel’s independence day and memorial day. In addition, with the approval of Rabbi Haskell Lookstein, he addressed the community from the pulpit at NY’s Kehillath Jeshurun Synagogue at Sabbath morning services.

February 2005: Representation at International Conference: Arnold Roth was Israel's representative in an international conference in Bogota, Colombia, dealing with terror victims and their role in society. The conference, held in February 2005, was attended by about a thousand delegates from the United States, Ireland, Chile, Spain, Russia, Indonesia, Colombia and other countries coping with the effects of terrorism. Roth, whose teenage daughter was murdered by Hamas terrorists in 2001, spoke about Israel's experience in battling an enemy which does not hesitate to use suicide as a weapon, and which both targets and exploits children. Roth has been deeply involved as an advocate for Israel in the international media, and served as the spokesperson last year for Israeli families taking part in an alternative hearing process in The Hague where the International Court of Justice was considering a multilateral attack on the legitimacy of its security barrier. CHAPTER IN INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY PUBLICATION: The firm has completed its chapter on Israeli law regarding digital signatures (written by Sonia Shnyder), which will appear in "E-Commerce and the Law of Digital Signatures", a loose-leaf treatise produced by the Center for International Legal Studies (ed. Dennis Campbell) published in 2005 by Oceana Publications of New York. The publication, aimed at foreign lawyers and business persons, is an extensive survey of this area of law in different national jurisdictions, and the firm was the sole Israeli firm to contribute a chapter.


ASSISTANCE WITH DEAD SEA SCROLLS EXHIBITION: The firm has been retained to assist the Pacific Science Center of Seattle, Washington, one of the premier science museums in the world, in negotiating with the Israel Antiquities Authority to bring a major exhibition of the Dead Sea Scrolls and related artifacts to the museum in late 2006.


MARC ZELL RADIO APPEARANCE: Marc Zell appeared on Israel National Radio as a commentator regarding the US Supreme Court's recent decision in the well-publicised juvenile death penalty case.


MARC ZELL AT JERUSALEM SUMMIT: Marc Zell was recently invited to participate and speak at the prestigious 2004 Jerusalem Summit.  Other speakers included Amb. Dr. Dore Gold, Former Israeli Ambassador to UN, Silvan Shalom, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Israel, Uri Lupolianski , Mayor of Jerusalem, Ana Palacio, former Foreign Minister of Spain, Dr. Daniel Pipes, US Institute of Peace, and Rep. Bob Beauprez (R-CO), U.S. Congress.


MARC ZELL TELEVISION AND RADIO APPEARANCES: Both prior to and in the wake of the 2004 US presidential election, Marc Zell appeared a number of times on Israel's Channels One and Two to discuss the elections and subsequent US political developments. Marc Zell was also a guest contributor during Israel Radio's election night broadcast, and was quoted in the Wall Street Journal in connection with the election.


October 2004: ZELL, GOLDBERG & CO WELCOMES ARNOLD ROTH, ADV.: Zell, Goldberg & Co. is pleased to announce that Arnold Roth, Adv. has joined the firm as of counsel.  Arnold has extensive experience both in practice, in the fields of technology law, computer law and multinational transactional law, and in the corporate and hi-tech business world, having served as managing director or CEO of a significant number of companies in this area.


ZELL, GOLDBERG & CO ACHIEVES LEGAL 500 RECOMMENDATIONS: In the 2004 edition of the European Legal 500, Zell, Goldberg & Co achieved recommendations for both corporate/commercial and dispute resolution work. In the corporate/commercial section, the guide reported that "Zell, Goldberg & Co counts Galtronics, a Middle Eastern multinational electronics manufacturer, among its clients, and also advises Internet-related start-ups on matters relating to commercial law."  As to dispute resolution, the guide noted that "Zell, Goldberg & Co...handles disputes for an Israeli military equipment manufacturer and has generally seen rapid growth in litigation, especially complex cross-border cases."


ZELL, GOLDBERG & CO WELCOMES AMIT PORAT, ADV.: Zell, Goldberg & Co. is pleased to announce that Amit Porat, Adv. has joined the firm as its new head of litigation.  Amit has been practising for over ten years as both a litigator and transactional attorney.  He has extensive experience in such areas as cross-border and domestic litigation, corporate and commercial law, banking, hi-tech, employment law and real estate.  He also has an MBA from the Recanati School at Tel Aviv University.

ZELL, GOLDBERG & CO APPOINTED COUNSEL TO SPACE SHUTTLE FUND: The firm has been appointed as local Israeli counsel for the US Space Shuttle Children's Trust Fund, on a pro bono basis.  The firm will be providing general corporate, non-profit organization and related tax advice for the Fund, in connection with charitable donations from Israeli donors, in memory of the Columbia Astronauts and their colleague, IDF Col. Ilan Ramon.


CONTRIBUTION TO ABA PUBLICATION: Zell, Goldberg & Co was chosen by the Negotiated Acquisition Committee of the American Bar Association to draft the Israeli section for their M&A Due Diligence Project. The book was  published in the spring of 2004.


ZELL, GOLDBERG & CO ACHIEVES LEGAL 500 RECOMMENDATIONS: In the 2003 edition of the European Legal 500, the premier guide to law firms in the Middle East and Europe, Zell, Goldberg & Co has once again achieved recommendations for both corporate/commercial and dispute resolution work. The guide reported that:

Zell, Goldberg & Co. establishes taskforce for Iraq: Zell, Goldberg & Co. has recently established a task force dealing with issues and opportunities relating to the recently ended war in Iraq.  The Firm, together with the Federal Market Group (www.gbs-llc.com) is assisting regional construction and logistics firms to collaborate with contractors from the United States and other coalition countries in implementing infrastructure and other reconstruction projects in Iraq. Through its Washington, D.C. office, ZGC is also assisting American companies in their relations with the United States government in connection with Iraqi reconstruction projects as prime contractors and consultants.

MARC ZELL LECTURES IN EUROPE: Marc Zell recently lectured to the Centre for International Legal Studies in Salzburg on the subject of "Terrorism:  Legal, Commercial and Humanitarian Aspects - An Israeli Perspective."  He also lectured to the Eurolegal network of independent law firms at its annual general meeting in Berlin, on the topic of "Anatomy of a Complex Cross-Border Entertainment Project (United States - Russia)".

COMMENTS TO SECURITIES AND EXCHANGES COMMISSION: Carl Sherer was recently invited by the Securities and Exchanges Commission to provide comments as a foreign attorney on the standards of attorney professional conduct in the Sarbanes-Oxley Act which was recently enacted in the US. ZGC ATTORNEYS ATTEND OPENING OF ISRAELI BUSINESS CENTRE IN MOSCOW: In February 2002, ZGC attorneys L.  Marc Zell and Sonia Shnyder attended the opening of the Israeli Business Centre in Moscow.  The Centre, established under the aegis of the Israel-Russia Trade and Industry Chamber, is intended to promote trade and industrial cooperation between Israeli and Russian business communities and to facilitate the entrance and operation of Israeli companies in the Russian market.  The opening ceremony was attended by top Israeli government officials and prominent Israeli and Russian businessmen and professionals.  The speakers at the event included the Construction Minister Nathan Sharansky, the Deputy Minister of the Prime Minister’s Office Yuri Stern, the Ambassador of the State of Israel in the Russian Federation Nathan Meron and the Chief Rabbi of Russia Berl Lazar, as well as senior RF officials.  Our affiliated Moscow office has provided comprehensive legal support to the Israel-Russia Trade and Industry Chamber in connection with setting up the Israeli Business Centre. Following a series of meetings in Moscow, Zell, Goldberg & Co. was chosen to represent a cross-border entertainment project involving Broadway theatrical productions and will serve as international counsel to a prominent logistic services company with a significant presence in the RF and the Baltic States.  Also, our Moscow office has been selected to represent an embassy of a European state in a non-profit project in Russia.
