Zell & Co.'s patent practice (in coordination with Weiss & Moy, P.C.) includes areas such as U.S. and foreign patent prosecution, patent search, patent amendments, licensing agreements, technology exchange agreements and alternate source agreements, and is also experienced in litigation related to these practice areas.   

Promptly after receiving a disclosure of the invention from the client and before beginning work, the patent practice group provides a binding, fixed fee quotation for patent preparation.  The client can then budget for patent-related expenses in the same way that it might budget for research and development, marketing, or other expenses.   

The patent practice group’s areas of technological expertise include: biotech, computer architecture, analogue and digital circuitry, semiconductor fabrication and packaging, microprocessor logic and systems, circuits and design tool software, operating systems and applications software, device drivers, cache and memory controllers, disk and disk array features, telephony, network devices and software, communication systems, microwave design, and RF electronics.    

The patent practice group has substantial experience in all phases of dispute resolution regarding claims of patent infringement -- from the preparation of cease and desist letters and responses thereto to litigation in federal district court and on appeal before the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Indeed, the patent practice group has prevailed on three occasions in appeals before the Federal Circuit.
