In a precedent-setting appeal to a state appellate court in the United States, Zell & Co. successfully represented a U.S. client against an attempt to compel arbitration of a multi-million dollar wrongful death claim arising out of a work-related accident that took place outside the United States.  The case involved application of the so-called estoppel doctrine to permit enforcement of an arbitration clause by non-signatories against a signatory to the arbitration agreement.
